Book subscription for a cause

Some book lovers find joy in receiving books but may only get these on special events such as their birthdays and on Christmas. Luckily, there are now book subscriptions in the Philippines that let you unbox a new book each month.

Blithe Books Independent’s Blithely monthly book subscription service not only lets you get a new book that suits your taste every month, but you also get to help young cancer patients in Cebu get a mini library so they, too, can find joy in reading books.

You can expect to receive a book that suits your taste each month you are subscribed to Blithely. On top of this, you also get what they call a small literary companion gift.

Some examples of gifts Blithe Books Independent has included in the past are tote bags, book-themed postcards, plantable pencils, and pour-over coffee which you can enjoy as you read.

So that you can best enjoy the titles sent to you, you can personalize your subscription by choosing from 3 types of books.

The Classics Starter lets you get one classic read from Blithe Books Independent’s Vintage, Collector’s, or Anniversary collections each month for P799 (USD15.78). These include titles such as Pride and Prejudice, The Great Gatsby, Wuthering Heights, Emma, and Little Women.

On the flip side, Blithe Picks gives you contemporary or classic books based on your preferences per month for P899 (~USD17.75). This option lets you receive books by authors such as J.R.R. Tolkien, Agatha Christie, and Neil Gaiman. It also includes non-fiction works such as former US President Barack Obama’s A Promised Land.

If you wish for your child to develop a love for books, you can also subscribe to Blithely’s children’s book subscription. This lets you get a book for 3 to 7 year-olds each month for P649 (~USD12.81).

Up to P900 in savings

Subscribing to Blithely instead of buying a book a month lets you get up to P900 (~USD17.77) in savings. The aforementioned fees for the subscription service are also inclusive of the shipping fee, so you don’t have to worry about the extra expense.

You also have a choice between a 3- or 6-month subscription. However, you can cancel your subscription anytime and use your remaining balance to purchase any book on their website.

On top of these, 15% of the Blithely book subscription service’s sales go to a fund that will be used to build a mini library in a pediatric cancer ward in Cebu, making it worth your every peso.
