Palawan’s Hidden Beach Makes It To Conde Nast Traveller’s 30 Best Beaches In The World List

Palawan’s Hidden Beach is officially one of the world’s best beaches

Palawan’s beaches aren’t a new sighting on a list of the world’s best beaches, but just in case we need a reminder of how our local shores are indeed home to world-class travel destinations, Hidden Beach, a secluded paradise in El Nido, has just been once again declared as one of the best beaches in the world

Condé Nast Traveller placed Hidden Beach in Palawan on the 20th spot of the magazine’s newest “30 Best Beaches in the World” list, describing the beach as “surrounded by imposing limestone cliffs and with startlingly bone-white sand.”

Hidden Beach is no longer unknown, but still worth a visit in future

“It’s not quite so hidden anymore,” Condé Nast Traveller journalist Lizzie Pook begins, “but this beach still makes its mark as one of the world’s best. . . . Hidden Beach – surrounded by imposing limestone cliffs and with startlingly bone-white sand – is separated from the turquoise ocean by a small keyhole-like opening, through which visitors must climb in order to access the lagoon.”

Hidden Beach is in good company on the rankings, joined by Benguerra Island in Mozambique that won first place for its sandbars shimmering like “nacre,” Playa Paraiso in Cuba on the 2nd spot for its “sieved-flour sand and crystalline waters” and Hiriketiya in Sri Lanka on the 3rd spot for its “jungle meets the sea” vibe.

Word reached the office of our Department of Tourism, and DOT Secretary Romulo-Puyat was quick to express her elation on behalf of her team for the beach’s inclusion on the list. “We are elated by this global recognition of one of our beaches from the prestigious publication, Condé Nast Traveller,” she said.

“While the world waits for international travel to resume, citations such as these will greatly help keep The Philippines in the bucket lists of travelers everywhere,” she added.

Here’s hoping we can travel to Palawan’s Hidden Beach post-COVID 19

It’s sad that we aren’t going to travel for a while, but as our favorite beach destinations such as Palawan’s Hidden Beach are free from the hustle and bustle of tourists for now, we can expect to see them in their renewed beauty when we can go out to travel again.
