Best Miss Universe Philippines 2021 gowns from the preliminaries
Now that we’re only a few days away from Miss Universe Philippines 2021’s 30th September finals night, the competition is on with our contestants having paraded in their swimsuits and evening gowns as part of the preliminaries aired on Sunday, 26th September.
Inside the halls of Clark International Airport in Pampanga, the remaining 28 contestants strutted with their own kinds of elegance. But some stole the spotlight either because of their unconventional gown choices or body-hugging gowns that perfectly accentuated their figures. Here are 8 of the most captivating Miss Universe Philippines 2021 gowns from the Sunday preliminaries.
1. Steffi Rose Aberasturi’s Philipp Tampus nude pink gown

Cebu province’s Steffi Rose Aberasturi is indeed one of the strong contenders in this year’s pageant. She had earlier made the rounds on social media after her “expressway walk,” and in the lead-up to the pageant’s finals, she wowed with an understated, but elegant and unique nude pink mermaid gown created by Philipp Tampus.
Aberasturi completed her look with a high bun perfectly complemented with a huge pair of floral, silver earrings.
2. Leren Mae Bautista’s Louis Pangilinan Mariang Makiling silver gown

Laguna’s Leren Mae Bautista was simply stunning in her Louis Pangilinan silver gown. Adorned with dangling beads, crystals, and sequins, the high-slit gown is intricately designed with patterns and hugged Bautista’s curves just enough to accentuate her fine physique.

It’s also inspired by the mythical enchantress Mariang Makiling, said to be from the misty Mount Makiling of Bautista’s hometown Los Baños, Laguna, as well as Batangas.
3. Janela Joy Cuaton’s Roy Tizon gold gown

Albay’s Janela Joy Cuaton gave us Cleopatra vibes when she strutted in her Roy Tizon gold gown that perfectly emphasized her voluptuous curves.
Her gown is also glowing with stitched gold embellishments balanced out by the subtle addition of green, blue, and purple sequins.
4. Jane Nicole Miñano’s Jhoey Magallon off-shoulder silver gown with dripping beads

Jane Nicole Miñano, the pride of Romblon, sashayed in a off-shoulder Jhoey Magallon silver gown during the preliminaries. And while it’s obviously elegant with its glittering ornamentation, its symmetrical cut that highlighted Miñano’s upper body is not to be missed, as well as the high slit that showed off her toned legs.
And while it’s far from being close, Miñano’s gown reminds us of Kim Kardashian’s iconic skin-tight nude gown, dripping in beads and sequins, that she wore during the 2019 Met Gala.
5. Princess Kristha Singh’s Armand Marco blue gown

Pasig’s Princess Kristha Singh shone in her high-slit, blue Armand Marco gown polished with embellishments in varying shades of blue and accentuated by silver beads.
If you’ve been an avid fan of Miss Universe, the gown will also remind you of Miss Universe Thailand Amanda Obdam‘s gown during the finals of Miss Universe 2020.
6. Izabella Jasmine Umali’s Nat Manilag wrapped green gown

Manila’s Izabella Jasmine Umali showed that unconventional choices do not have to be unstylish when it comes to evening gowns.
Wearing a Nat Manilag wrap-style green gown, Umali was clearly a powerful presence during the competition’s preliminaries.
7. Krizzaleen Mae Valencia’s Kenny Ladaga champagne gown

Krizzaleen Mae Valencia, who hails from Davao Occidental, gave us proof that evening gowns do not have to be loud and colorful to stand out.
Her subdued Kenny Ladaga tube champagne gown, accentuated with colorful sequins, is the definition of minimalist sophistication. Netizens are loving her preliminary gown’s simplicity, some even comparing it to Colombia’s Ariadna Gutierrez’s finals gown during Miss Universe 2015, where she won 1st runner-up against Pia Wurtzbach.
8. Maureen Christa Wroblewitz’s Mara Chua turquoise mermaid gown

Last but not the least, Maureen Christa Wroblewitz of Pangasinan stood out with her unique, Mara Chua turquoise mermaid gown defined by curved lines embellished with sequins.

From Steffi Aberasturi’s to Maureen Wroblewitz’s, some of the evening gowns at this year’s Miss Universe Philippines preliminaries indeed turned heads not only because of the beautiful women wearing them but also because of the gowns themselves.
