Uniqlo PH Unveils Salamat Pilipinas Collection Ft. Filipino Designers’ Works We Can Wear With Pride

Uniqlo Philippines’ Salamat Pilipinas collection

Japanese clothing brand Uniqlo has been a staple part of our everyday essentials since it first opened a store on our shores way back in 2012. And as part of its 9th anniversary in the country, Uniqlo Philippines is launching the UTmeArtPH x Salamat Pilipinas Collection.

In collaboration with local designers, the collection includes T-shirts showcasing artworks that capture the Filipino spirit through depictions of our cities, traditions, and values.

The t-shirts feature artworks by Manix Abrera, Bea Policarpio, and Isabel Santos

The collection has three designs you can wear with pride. Cartoonist Manix Abrera, best known for his comic strip Kikomachine Komix, gave a modern take on the Filipino amulet, a traditional lucky charm for battles, through his signature black and white strokes.

For fans of abstract paintings, the t-shirt bearing abstract expressionist artist Bea Policarpio’s artwork entitled “The Sun It Gently Rises” has been printed with a combination of soft and heavy colors that aim to illustrate a feeling of an “inward rush of gratitude.”

Internationally recognized artist and illustrator Isabel Santos highlighted the colorful streets of Manila in her drawing, casting limelight on our busy markets’ “beautifully complex” hustle and bustle.
