Cat fight occurs behind reporter Doris Bigornia

As cat owners, we’ve all had our share of strange experiences with our miming friends. Sometimes we hear them teeth-chattering in the middle of the day, seemingly their way of expressing their excitement and frustration over seeing potential prey outside. During the evening, as much as we choose to let them sleep in more spacious couches, they choose to curl up in tiny spaces instead.

In the case of ABS-CBN journalist Doris Bigornia’s live interview from her home on May 15, cats have shown that they are especially talented in videobombing people too.

Bella Luna and Nala ‘have no chill’

While interviewing Jennylle Tupaz, president and CEO of Ayala Land Malls Inc., in her DZMM Teleradyo show SRO or Suhestiyon, Reaksyon, Opinyon about quarantine guidelines as Metro Manila transitioned to MECQ, Doris’s cats decided that it was as good a time as any to get into a cat fight.

Nikki Bigornia, Doris’s daughter and the owner of the two cats, took to Twitter to own up that her cats, named Bella Luna and Nala, “have no chill”.

In response, the Mutya ng Masa, as we fondly call the veteran journalist, retweeted her daughter’s post, calling out the cats about having “rules” in the studio, saying “CHILDREN! We have rules in the studio!”

The funny incident was not the first time where the cats stole the scene as their journalist grandma conducted her live interviews at home. Prior to the cat fight, which has now gone viral, another one of Nikki’s cats (she has four all together) was also caught on camera cleaning itself in a rather unglamorous position with “no shame” by Doris’s bookshelf for millions of viewers to see.

Netizens couldn’t take a chill pill either

The internet applauded Doris, emphasizing that the veteran Mutya ng Masa is used to reporting while a rambulan or brawl ensued behind her.

Twitter user @CzarinaCenteno, for instance, responded to Nikki’s tweet, saying, “Kahit nuong bago pa lang sa pagrereport si [Ma’am] Doris ay sanay na siya na may nagrarambulan sa likod niya habang naka live…. Iba talaga ang Mutya ng Masa.”

Her tweet can be translated as, “Ma’am Doris is used to people brawling behind her while she’s reporting live. She’s one of a kind, [our] muse of the masses.”

Another Twitter netizen @iamgabetaopo23 parodied the encounter, replying to Nikki and Doris’s tweet with a line that sounds straight from a newcast: “Nagbabagang balita: Namataan ang dalawang pusa, nagaaway sa likod ng Mutya ng Masa!”

His tweet can be translated as, “Breaking news: Cats were seen fighting in a brawl behind the Queen of the Masses!”

Live reporting during the time of COVID-19

Encounters like this spread the good vibes, giving us a wholesome cheer up in an otherwise gloomy situation.

And as the fight against COVID-19 will go on in the coming months, we are looking forward to more funny encounters as journalists continue reporting from their homes.
