Taylor Sheesh and Taylor Swift are, once again, making headlines, though sadly, not for the best of reasons. While Taylor Sheesh already attended the Eras Tour three times, fans have yet to witness the iconic ’22’ hat be bestowed upon Sheesh’s head.
Because of this, netizens took to X/Twitter their thoughts about the controversy that has blown up over this situation.
In case you didn’t know, Taylor Sheesh is a Filipino drag queen who impersonates Taylor Swift, one of the world’s most popular singer-songwriters.
Since the Eras Tour isn’t coming to the Philippines, Taylor Sheesh came up with a clever plan to bring Taylor Swift to Filipino fans: by mimicking the Eras Tour across the country and performing for free in malls.
Since then, Taylor Sheesh is more recognition locally and internationally.

On her road to fame, Taylor Sheesh was recognized for her efforts in holding free mall concerts in the country.
Beginning to gain recognition globally, she recently had an Errors Tour that showed in Singapore and at Melbourne, Australia. And both concerts were a success!
In November 2023, the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore hosted Taylor Sheesh’s international debut. Fans warmly embraced her, singing and vibing with her throughout the night.
The Australia concert was no exception. During her interview on Today, the Taylor Swift impersonator expressed overwhelming surprise at the massive crowd that turned up. She reiterated that the Aussie Swifties were “insane” for giving their 100% energy from start to finish. Suffice it to say, she’s on a roll.
In between these events, Taylor Sheesh has been traveling to see Taylor Swift perform live on stage. Out of the many shows on the Eras Tour, Taylor Sheesh has attended three – in Japan, Australia, and Singapore. Fans had hoped that Taylor Sheesh would be chosen to receive the famous ’22’ hat, but it didn’t happen.
Now, controversy sparked when she wasn’t selected despite attending the Eras Tour multiple times.
The iconic ’22’ hat is a tradition during the Eras Tour, where Taylor Swift selects one lucky fan to receive her black fedora while she performs her song 22. Typically, she picks girls aged around five to ten years old.
However, there are exceptions at times. For instance, Fil-Am Swiftie Mikael Arellano was chosen to receive the ’22’ hat due to his creation of the dance Taylor Swift incorporates in her song Bejeweled.
In case you were wondering, the recent recipient of the ’22’ hat was 10-year-old Singaporean Giselle Heng. After sharing a tight hug, Heng presented Swift with a friendship bracelet, and in return, received the ’22’ hat from the famous singer-songwriter.

Since Taylor Sheesh’s debut, it’s evident that Swifties have grown fond of her and what she represents – bringing Taylor Swift to the Philippines in the closest way possible.
As Taylor Sheesh still hasn’t been able to get the ’22’ hat, netizens have taken to the internet to share their thoughts about the situation. The tweets above reflect mixed reactions, with some expressing support for Taylor Sheesh, while others speculate on whether Taylor Swift’s team approves of her.

Despite mixed fan reactions, Taylor Sheesh tweeted her unwavering love for Taylor Swift and expressed happiness for the recipient of the ’22’ hat.
Despite the uproar surrounding these events, Taylor Swift and her team have yet to address the controversy regarding Taylor Sheesh not receiving the ’22’ hat.
Until then, let’s follow Taylor Sheesh’s example and be happy for the recipients of the iconic memorabilia. Clearly, watching Taylor Swift perform live is more than enough for Taylor Sheesh.
