South Korea Announces Simpler Visa Requirements For Filipino Travelers

South Kores announces simpler visa requirements

Traveling to South Korea just got easier!

Starting February of this year, South Korea is opening its doors wider by simplifying its visa requirements for Filipino travelers, making it easier than ever to explore the rich culture of this country.

Recently, the South Korean Embassy in the Philippines shared that they’ve streamlined the visa application process for Filipino tourists through eliminating the requirement of financial documents such as bank certificates, bank statements, and income tax returns (ITR).

This lessened requirement is applied to individuals who fall under these categories:

  • Elected politicians
  • Government officials who rank higher or equal to the Assistant Secretary of the Executive Branch of the Philippine Government and Brigadier General of the Armed Forces of the Philippines or the Philippine National Police
  • Professional license holders – refers to valid PRC and IBP ID holders with professions: physician, dentist, lawyer, certified public accountant (CPA), pharmacist, and veterinarian
  • BDO Gold & BDO Elite credit card holders

If, for any reason, you’re a qualified applicant and you believe submitting financial documents may support your case in securing a visa, then you’re still able to do so.

Additionally, the new guidelines have also increased the validity for qualified applicants with multiple-entry visas from five to 10 years. More details here.

Financial documents are one less thing to worry about. However, the South Korean Embassy reiterates that the general requirements for a tourist visa application still stand. These documents include a valid passport, passport-sized photo, application forms, and proof of employment.

As usual, the requirements must be met and submitted or presented upon request. This new guideline will be observed until 31st December 2024.

The simpler set of requirements adds another option to the Workation and Hallyu visas that South Korea launched this year. More options for those who want to stay in South Korea for longer!

More accessibility for Filipino travelers with easier South Korea visa requirements

With South Korea visa requirements now more accessible to Filipinos, the opportunity to create unforgettable memories in this captivating country has never been more within reach.

Happy traveling!
