The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has recently announced that 24-hour road works will be happening non-stop this Holy Week from Holy Wednesday, 27th March at 11pm to Monday, 1st April at 5am. The affected roads involve major thoroughfares and key areas within the region.
With the impact on commuters, MMDA assures the public that these road works are simply part of their efforts in enhancing infrastructure and providing better transportation routes. Coordination with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and local government units are in place to minimize disruptions and ensure efficient work progress.

According to the MMDA, DPWH, along with a telecommunications firm, are taking advantage of the Holy Week to do these road works as the number of motorists and four-wheel vehicles will be significantly low.
This is because most of them will have headed to provinces and other destinations to observe religious practices during the week and spend time with their families.
The affected roads and areas to undergo 24-hour construction work are as follows:
The MMDA advises travelers, commuters, and motorists to plan in advance and follow designated alternate paths to avoid congestion.
Despite the inconvenience, these road works are crucial for maintaining and enhancing Metro Manila’s infrastructure.
These continuous efforts aim to provide safer and more efficient travel for residents and commuters in the long term, especially after taking a major religious break with the Holy Week.
While the road works may cause short-term inconvenience for everyone, they are essential for the long-term improvement of Metro Manila’s transportation route system.
Suffice it to say, it’s best to stay updated and plan your routes wisely during this Holy Week period.
