John Lloyd Cruz’s showbiz comeback

We haven’t seen him playing a leading role on screen in a while, but thankfully, after a hiatus of almost 5 years, heartthrob John Lloyd Cruz is finally coming back to showbiz for real under Crown Artist Management, actress Maja Salvador’s new talent agency.

The agency revealed his much-awaited comeback on its Instagram account on 15th May. “We are happy to share with you the CAMback of the one and only John Lloyd Cruz, now under Crown Artist Management,” the agency captioned one of its posts with a smiling photo of Cruz.

The agency also posted a teaser video of Cruz showing him disembarking from a private plane as a sports car awaits him. The video ended with Cruz smiling from across his window and driving off.

Cruz took a major hiatus from his showbiz projects after his 2017 film Finally Found Someone with Sarah Geronimo. According to him in his November 2020 interview with Boy Abunda, the demands of his line of work can be draining, and as a creator, he wants to give his viewers something worthy of their time.

During his break, Cruz was only seen in a few public appearances. He had a small role in the 2019 film Culion, for instance, and he also welcomed his son Elias with Ellen Adarna in 2018.

A movie with Bea Alonzo is reportedly in the works

While there are no exact details yet, a Bea-John Lloyd comeback movie is also reportedly in the works. According to film director Olivia Lamasan in January 2021, the pair’s comeback movie will push through. It’s expected to be released this year.

Aside from the film with Alonzo, Cruz was also seen in February 2020 while shooting for Lav Diaz’s movie Servando Magdamag, which is based on journalist and screenwriter Ricky Lee’s novel.

John Lloyd Cruz resumes showbiz career

It’s heartening for fans to know that Cruz has had a meaningful career break from showbiz. After all, he’s been in the industry for a long time.

Here’s to hoping we’ll get to see more of what he can offer as a talented actor this time!
