Amidst the busy cityscape of the metro, there’s a newly opened cafe that will satisfy your inner bohemian spirit as well as your cravings.
Housed in a humble block of concrete, Grateful Cafe is a refreshing hangout spot in Mandaluyong, inspired by Mexican motifs, that will make you feel at home with their delectable snacks and beverages.

The cafe isn’t your typical chain – instead of the usual hole-in-the-wall setup, the owners of the cafe built the place to look and feel like a house. There’s an option for you to go al fresco as well as dining in the establishment.

Inside, intricate furniture and weaving crafts, ranging from mats, hats, and bags, that adorn the space combine to give us the vibe of a Mexican cafe with colorful and patterned interiors.
But while the theme exudes motifs from the Latin American country, the furniture pieces, such as the floral-inspired yellow chair, are actually made in the Philippines.

If you’re looking for a heavy meal, Grateful might not be the best place to go. It’s a hangout spot or stopover for times you need a quick bite, as they regularly serve light meals such as sandwiches (from P100, ~USD2.01) from egg sandwiches to cheesy toasties to corned-beef sandwiches.
Occasionally, you may also chance upon their menu featuring Filipino food such as a bowl of dark chocolate champorado.

Health buffs may replenish their day via cups of calamansi or orange juice (P250, ~USD5.02 each) as well as detox drinks such as the cafe’s herbal green detox with cucumber and Himalayan salt (P350, ~USD7.03).
For a busy day in the metro or a for a casual weekend catch-up, the Grateful Cafe indeed checks all the boxes of what we’re looking for!
Whether you’re stopping by for a light breakfast, lunch, or dinner, there’s something more special for you at the Grateful Cafe, serving heartwarming meals in a place designed with thought and inspiration.
