Beef mole

Muy Mexicantina offers its diners set meals ranging from P999 to P1,199 (~USD19.09 to USD22.92). One of them, Set A, includes dry and wet burritos, nachos, and baked bell peppers, so Mexican food newbies can try as many types of food as they can.
However, their ala carte dishes are also not to miss out on. Taste a flavor you may have never had before and try beef mole (P300, ~USD5.73) – beef stew with chocolate and chili.

For those who are already familiar with Mexican food, there are also inventive recipes such as the Nacho Negro – blue corn tortillas with chili beef, olives, tomatoes, and jalapeños – and Mac n’ Chili – macaroni with nacho cheese and chili beef.

Onlypans Taqueria is known for its big birria taco servings. This type of taco uses meat from a traditional stew which lets the meat soak in more flavor.
Like most Mexican restaurants, you can get the classic carnitas taco (P350, ~USD6.68). Theirs is made with pulled, top-grade pork, pickled onions, and chipotle barbecue sauce.

For an upscale, loaded taco, the taqueria also has quesabirria (P380, ~USD7.26) made with USDA beef. It comes with mozzarella cheese, pico de Gallo, lime, and three types of sauces.
Onlypans Taqueria has an al fresco dining area but there’s limited seating both indoors and outdoors.

Kare-kare burrito

To set itself apart from other Mexican restaurants in the metro, Buen Comer by Poquellas serves hefty Filipino, American, Japanese, and Mexican fusion burritos.
There’s the kare-kare burrito (P238, ~USD4.54) which is derived from the Filipino peanut stew. They also have Japanese-style fried chicken, steak and fries, buffalo chicken, and mac n’ cheese wraps.

Plant-based taco

Some Mexican restaurants in Metro Manila also offer plant-based food. One of them is El Chupacabra in Poblacion, Makati that’s known for its street tacos.
Among their popular street tacos are the Vegetarian (P120, ~USD2.29) with grilled veggies, and Soyrizo con Papas with vegetarian chorizo (sausage) (P145, ~USD2.77). You can also get these as burritos.
If you’re into spicy food, make sure to ask for their housemade Salsa Atomica.

For those who want to have meat, another popular recipe from the restaurant is the pinchos morunos de pollo (P35, ~USDx). This is aromatic, spiced chicken skewer that’s great to have with beer.

Vegan carnitas

La Chinesca is also one of Metro Manila’s Mexican restaurants that serve plant-based recipes. It provides vegan options that use plant-based meat alternatives to taco favorites such as carnitas, campechano, and quesabirria (starting at P130, ~USD2.49).
Besides these tacos, you can also get taquitos (P300, ~USD5.74). It’s grilled eggplant, potato, and creamed spinach in deep-fried corn tortillas served with housemade salsa.

Non-vegans can also get enjoy their seafood tostadas (starting at 135, ~USD2.58) – toasted tortilla with tuna, shrimp, pulpo (octopus), or the seasonal uni (sea urchin).
La Chinesca’s BF Homes, Parañaque branch shares a space with the Japanese restaurant Sensei so you can enjoy both Mexican and Japanese food.

Beef nachos

Silantro is a popular Filipino-Mexican restaurant with several branches nationwide. It’s known for its beef nachos (P270, ~USD5.16) loaded with beef, avocado, and cheese which patrons always return to the restaurant for.
For mains, you can get the beef and lengua burrito (P240, ~USD4.59) that has braised beef tongue or their paella fajita (P320, ~USD6.12) that’s generously topped with chicken, squid, mussels, shrimps, and eggs.
