Being stuck in our homes during the pandemic, we clung to comforting content such as the Netflix K-drama Our Beloved Summer (2021). Thankfully, travel restrictions have eased and we can now get much-needed healing experiences first-hand.
If you’re looking for a place not too far from the metro where you can take your well-deserved break, Harvest Kitchen & Cafe is an option you should definitely consider. It’s surrounded by lush greenery, located at Bounty Harvest Farm in Cavite, and offers a farm-to-table dining experience.

Harvest Kitchen & Cafe’s menu offerings are kept fresh inside an enclosed area that also houses the counter. There are also a couple of seats here but the cafe is best known for its refreshing spaces.

Most seats are found at the cafe’s patio which allows you to be in the shade but still breathe in the fresh farm air. This also lets you appreciate the beauty of the property with no walls or glass windows obstructing your view.

Just outside the indoor-outdoor dining space is an al-fresco area that allows you to be closer to nature. However, you can even take this a step further by laying a picnic mat on the lush grass in their vast lawn and enjoying your meal there.
On a good day, this picnic spot makes the best place to take aesthetic Instagram pictures. Surrounded by trees, you can even pretend to be the main character in your own version of Our Beloved Summer.
It’s not only you who’ll get to enjoy time away from the city, too. Kids and fur babies are allowed in the vicinity and are free to run around the area.

A healing retreat isn’t complete without great comfort food.
For mains, Haven Kitchen & Cafe has Filipino favorites such as beef kaldereta (tomato-based stew) (P250, ~USD4.79) and pork binagoongan (sauteed pork in shrimp paste) (P220, ~USD4.22) served with rice and a vegetable side dish.
There are all-day brunch meals, including longganisa (sausage) or danggit (sun-dried rabbitfish) served with garlic rice, a sunnyside-up egg, and salad.

You can also never go wrong with Filipino-style grilled dishes such as pork barbecue, liempo (grilled pork belly), and chicken inasal (charcoal-grilled chicken).
In case you don’t feel like eating Filipino food, you can also find comfort in Haven Kitchen & Cafe’s pasta and salad dishes.

Harvest Kitchen & Cafe doesn’t only serve delicious food. They also use fresh vegetables for their dishes for a healing dining experience that’ll make you feel good inside and out.

The greens they use for their salads and side dishes come from the hydroponic garden at Bounty Harvest Farm. You can even take a piece of the farm back to the city by purchasing seedlings from the farm or getting fresh produce to make your own healthy meals.
Places that are near Metro Manila yet surrounded by nature make great spots to find comfort outside of our computers and stay AFK for a while. They don’t cost a lot to visit and enjoy.
