Dessert places in Metro Manila

Whenever the craving for your favorite desserts is just too high, we might as well double the happiness by heading to an Instagrammable dessert place as well.

From the floral-themed Flossom Cafe x Kitchen in SM North to the first standalone Scout’s Honor cookie house in Ayala Malls Vertis North, here are 8 Instagrammable dessert places around Metro Manila where you can pair your destressing sugar rush with pretty souvenir shots.

Note: For those who prefer take-out or delivery, all the dessert cafes on this list provide them. You may enquire with them on their social media pages to order.

1. Flossom Cafe x Kitchen (SM North) – floral-themed cafe

First off in this list is the Flossom Cafe x Kitchen branch in SM City North Edsa. An Instagrammable haven of flowers and pretty pastel colors, its walls in pink are decked with hanging leaves and flowers, while leather chairs in light cyan and pink are a lovely complement to the cafe’s floral theme.

The desserts in the cafe range from cookie dough to affogato, but the place is known for their unique take on champorado called the Ube Champorado (P280, ~USD5.47). A rice porridge breakfast dessert in bright purple instead of the usual brown, it’s infused with yema sauce and toppings of dilis for a subtle salty and sweet flavor.

2. The Lost Bread (SM Megamall) – The Lost Bread’s only cafe branch

As the only branch of a dessert concept store built as a cafe instead of the usual counter stall dessert places, The Lost Bread in SM Megamall is also the largest branch, bursting in pastel colors and decked with tables with wicker chairs made for you and your friends’ longer catch-ups.

The blue vanilla soft-serve is a popular staple, with its Italian gelato responsible for turning the usual white vanilla a soft blue. We love the Summer Camp Smores (starts at P165, ~USD3.22), a blue vanilla-flavored soft-serve on top of crushed graham crackers and accented with torched marshmallows to remind you of sunlit-filled summer camp days.

The blue vanilla soft-serve base is not too sweet, while the crushed graham crackers on the bottom make a rewarding treat.

The Tsujiri branch in Rockwell is a sight to behold, as a spacious branch of the 155-year old Japanese matcha brand. Adorned with brown geometric lines, the counter welcomes you with a photogenic wall filled with Japanese characters and teapots.

Tsujiri is known for its authentic, premium green tea drinks and matcha-infused desserts – from ice cream to cakes and pastries.

If you haven’t been to any of their branches, the Matcha-flavored Tsujiri Sundae (P295, ~USD5.76 is their classic bestseller for a reason: it’s a creamy soft-serve bursting with matcha goodness, mixed with red bean, chestnuts, mochi, and genmai or toasted rice at the bottom for a rich, layered dessert experience. It’s adorned with a cherry blossom rice cracker on top to add a subtle citrus flavor.

For a family-style dining experience, head off to a Mom and Tina’s branch offering home-cooked meals and pastries. The details of the bakery cafe are homey too, with sturdy brown tables and plush, blue wooden chairs made to resemble a family kitchen filled with the conviviality of laughter, love, and good food.

The Banoffee Pie (price upon request) is said to be one of their bestsellers. It’s a creamy dessert filled with generous servings of banana inside and topped with an icing drizzled with chocolate and caramel syrup. On the bottom, the hard crust of the pie adds a balance to this mix of softness.

5. Farmacy Ice Cream & Soda Fountain (Taguig) – vintage-themed ice cream and soda fountain parlor

Farmacy Ice Cream & Soda is a popular photogenic dessert spot in BGC, for many reasons: it’s all vintage with its reference to old US ice cream parlors, draped in nostalgic brown wooden panels and bar stools, classic tile patterns, and even featuring an antique medicine cabinet.

They offer a range of sweets, from fresh homemade ice cream to pastries with alcoholic flavors. One of their bestsellers is the Banana Split (P290, ~USD5.66), their classic dessert with the right balance of creaminess and sweetness. It can be enjoyed in a variety of flavors: chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, chocolate, and caramel. Toppings include pineapple tidbits, peanuts, and Maraschino cherries.

6. Tokyo Milk Cheese Factory (Ayala Malls Manila Bay) – desserts made from authentic Hokkaido milk

Beloved Tokyo Milk Cheese Factory has made its way to the Philippine shores, and we love this particular branch of the factory in Ayala Malls Manila Bay that’s a store on its own instead of the usual stalls.

Wooden brown is everywhere, accentuated by the factory’s signature creamy white colors and blue typeface. The simple design combinations blend into picture-perfect cuteness.

They are known for melt-in-your-mouth milk cheesecakes and cheese cookies made from authentic milk from Hokkaido, Japan. But in the past few years, they have also tried their hand at soft-serve ice creams – the Cow Cow Ice, for example is a Hokkaido-style soft serve which has three variants: Milk (P150, ~USD2.93), Hokkaido Cheese (P170, ~USD3.32), and Hokkaido Mix (P170, ~USD3.32). A cheesecake add-ons costs P120 (~USD2.34) a slice, while a cookie is P60 (~USD1.17) a piece.

The Dark Chocolate Frappucino (price upon request) is the cafe’s hype recently, a richer chocolate blended beverage mixed with a subtle hint of bitterness.

We’re getting a Moonrise Kingdom vibe off the first standalone Scout’s Honor cafe at Ayala Malls Vertis North. Inspired by camping, its details include a ceiling resembling tent-like angular structures and a quirky wall decked with scouting tools.

The menu is inspired by the Girl Scout Cookie concept, with artisanal cookies served alongside a build-your-own cookie bar. Pair your cookies with their Craft Cookie Milkshakes (P210, ~USD4.10) to double up the sweetness. These next-level milkshakes are each topped with a cookie and come in three flavors: Chocolat Dark Secret, Cookie Monster, and Strawberry Milkshake.
