Quaipo’s Cafe Kabuhayan

For coffee enthusiasts who live by their dose of caffeine every day, sometimes, even though instant coffee offers us convenience, it just isn’t enough.

So those who are looking for freshly ground beans to power their day-to-day tasks not just with caffeine but with a delicious, thick blend of coffee, Quiapo’s Cafe Kabuhayan is a small bazaar of different coffee bean varieties that you should check out.

The store sells 18 varieties of coffee beans

An OG store along the streets of Quiapo, Cafe Kabuhayan has been around since 1945. The small but historical store is a one-stop shop for coffee lovers looking for all sorts of beans they can find at cheaper prices than what’s on offer in malls and other stores.

You can choose from 18 varieties. The best-seller is the Sagada ground beans (P480, ~USD9.49 per kilo), and you can also find more local ground beans such as the Batangas (P360, ~USD7.12 per kilo) and Kalinga beans (P360, ~USD7.12 per kilo) from local farms.

Their unique ground bean flavors you may not have heard of yet include Bailey Irish Cream, Macadamia, and Butterscotch (all at P460, ~USD9.10 per kilo).

You can book a courier

Given that the store is only managed by Chester de la Paz, who inherited Cafe Kabuhayan from his parents, they don’t accept delivery. But you can book your own courier to pick up your order from the store. Those who want to try the shop’s coffee beans first can also order less than a kilo of ground beans.

Offering a variety of freshly ground coffee beans at affordable prices, Cafe Kabuhayan is a must-visit for those who want to ensure the quality of their coffee drinks every day.
