7 Facts About Marina Summers From Joining ‘Drag Race PH’ To Being In ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race: UK VS The World’

The Philippines has come a long way in celebrating the LGBTQ+ community. Since then, more personalities have graced the spotlight not just in PH but also on the world stage, specifically drag performers like Marina Summers, who has become a well-loved icon in the industry.

1. Her pronouns are ‘he/him’ out of drag

It’s pretty clear that all of us address drag queens as ‘she/her’ when talking about them. However, when out of drag, these queens may choose to be addressed otherwise.

In this case, Marina Summers is addressed as ‘he/him’. According to a past tweet, Summers explained that it’s okay to address her as ‘she/her/hers’ out of drag, too, but only if they’re referring to Marina Summers, her drag queen persona.


2. She has been doing drag for almost 4 years

While she started getting into drag in 2019, Summers officially debuted in 2020, regularly performing at the Nectar Nightclub in Taguig. She also co-founded Drag Playhouse PH, an events organization that provides drag content and entertainment for its clients.

Additionally in 2020, she also released her debut single I Have Arrived on selected music-listening platforms. Fun fact, she performed this song in an episode on Drag Race Philippines‘ first season.


3. She won first runner-up on the first season of Drag Race Philippines

During the finale, Marina Summers ended up winning first runner-up, with Precious Paula Nicole as the winner of Drag Race Philippines Season 1. Top 12 drag queens include Eva Le Queen, Xilhouete, and Minty Fresh.

While she wasn’t able to win, Summers won a number of challenges throughout the season, which made her a memorable icon in the show.


4. She has three singles

Some may not know this, but Marina Summers actually has three songs that you can check out. I Have Arrived was a debut single that was officially released in 2020. According to Summers, the song could be applied to almost anything, where one may feel that it’s their time to shine and be their best self.

The other two, Divine and Ride 4 Me, were released consecutively in 2022 and 2023. If you’re into sultry music that’ll get your body moving, then you can listen to the two of these.

5. She has a YouTube show called The Stop Over

With the second season of Drag Race Philippines being underway, Summers started a show on her YouTube channel called The Stop Over.

In this unofficial recap show, she invites fellow drag queens to talk about Drag Race PH Season 2 from the looks to the performance of the drag queen contestants. So far, the show has 8 episodes available, with guests including Lady Morgana, Turing, and Maxie Andreison.

6. She will be in the second season of RuPaul’s Drag Race: UK vs The World

Last 13th January, it was announced that Marina Summers will be among the cast of RuPaul’s Drag Race: UK vs The World Season 2.

Aside from being the first Drag Race PH contestant to be on the show, she’s the only Asian that’ll be on this year’s segment. And it’s hosted by the queen of drag herself, RuPaul!

The show will be airing on 9th February, so make sure to keep a look out for future updates.


7. She has an event coming up this February
